WhiteWater and its partners have reached a positive Final Investment Decision (FID) to develop the Solitude Pipeline System, a major natural gas transportation project connecting the Permian Basin with Katy, Texas.

The project will comprise two 48-inch natural gas pipelines, designed to provide long-haul transportation capacity for growing gas production in the Permian Basin and rising demand along the Gulf Coast.

The system is expected to initially provide approximately 2.25 Bcf/d of capacity in late 2029, with a further 2.25 Bcf/d scheduled for 2030. The infrastructure will also have the flexibility to expand capacity as demand from shippers increases.

Solitude has secured substantial long-term firm transportation agreements with predominantly investment-grade shippers, supporting the project’s investment decision and providing greater visibility for future gas transportation volumes.

The pipeline system is expected to enter service in the second half of 2029, subject to regulatory and other required approvals.

The development highlights continued investment in large-scale gas transportation infrastructure and could provide a reference point for African and Middle Eastern gas markets, where new pipelines and export infrastructure are being developed to connect production with domestic, industrial and LNG demand centres.
