Emerson is showcasing a range of process control, subsea measurement and digital technologies designed to support more autonomous and data-driven operations across the upstream and midstream oil and gas sectors.

The technologies are being demonstrated at ONS 2026 in Stavanger, Norway, with a focus on integrating industrial hardware, analytical software and data architectures to improve operational visibility, remote control and production performance.

Among the technologies being presented is the Adaptive Gas Lift System (AGLS), which enables operators to remotely adjust gas lift valves using continuous well performance data. The system is designed to support artificial lift operations while reducing the need for physical well interventions.

Emerson is also showcasing Roxar subsea and topside multiphase flow measurement technologies designed to provide continuous data on oil, gas and water flows. Access to real-time flow information can help operators improve reservoir management and adjust production strategies based on changing well conditions.

Digital technologies support autonomous operations

Emerson’s AspenTech Subsurface Intelligence platform is designed to organise and analyse upstream data using the Open Subsurface Data Universe standard. The platform applies advanced analytics and artificial intelligence to support subsurface modelling and reservoir analysis.

The company is also highlighting its DeltaV Edge Environment, which is designed to connect operational technology with higher-level analytics while maintaining separation between control systems and enterprise networks.

Ethernet-APL technology extends high-speed Ethernet connectivity to field instruments, providing a communications infrastructure for collecting and transmitting data from process equipment in demanding industrial environments.

Offshore control and process safety

Emerson’s portfolio also includes Fisher control valves and digital valve controllers designed for demanding oil and gas applications. These technologies can support fluid regulation, compressor protection and process safety across upstream and midstream facilities.

For offshore operations, corrosion-resistant equipment and reliable instrumentation are particularly important because production facilities and subsea systems operate in harsh environments where equipment access and intervention can be challenging.

Emerson’s technology portfolio reflects the industry’s broader move towards remote monitoring, automated control and data-driven production management. By combining field instrumentation with edge computing and analytical software, operators can gain greater visibility into wells, production equipment and process conditions.

These technologies have potential applications across Africa and the Middle East, where offshore and onshore operators are increasingly adopting digital technologies to improve production efficiency, reduce unnecessary interventions and strengthen asset reliability.
