Shell is set to begin production from a new natural gas development in Egypt during the fourth quarter of 2026, strengthening the country’s domestic gas supply and supporting continued investment in the Eastern Mediterranean energy sector.
The project forms part of Shell’s ongoing upstream strategy in Egypt, where the company continues to expand exploration and development activities in partnership with local authorities and industry stakeholders. The new development is expected to contribute additional gas volumes to Egypt’s national energy network while enhancing production from the Mediterranean offshore region.
Initial drilling and testing have delivered encouraging results, with production expected to commence following the completion of development activities and connection to existing infrastructure. Shell has also continued appraisal and exploration work in nearby prospects to support future production growth.
The project reflects continued investment in Egypt’s offshore natural gas sector, where existing infrastructure enables faster commercialisation of new discoveries. By utilising established production facilities, operators can reduce development timelines while improving operational efficiency.
